THE other day I received a notice from Ausgrid advising that my home had been chosen to participate in a trial of a smart meter.
I was unaware of any such trials, as I had not seen or heard anything in the media.
The explanation that my home had been ‘‘chosen’’ annoyed me, not being given the option of declining the offer. I called the contact number on the notice and said that I was not interested, adding that I would padlock the meter box if necessary.
One only has to Google ‘‘smart meter’’ to see the problems in Victoria associated with trials and the roll-out of these meters.
Until the safety and health issues involved with smart meters are resolved, I refuse to have one installed.
