Port Stephens compost plan deferred

COUNCILLORS have moved to put a Kings Hill rezoning application inside a compost plant buffer zone on the backburner.

Last night’s committee meeting pushed to defer the proposal following several speakers who addressed councillors and called odour modelling into question.

The matter will return to the council meeting on May 22.

● Councillors have backed a recommendation to take no further action to close a lane between Brown Street and Richardson Road at Raymond Terrace.

A final decision will be made this month.
