‘‘WE are the LSC ... This is our f---ing town’’.
This was the claim made by a group of male youths just hours before 21-year-old Joshua Maynard was shot dead in Raymond Terrace on July 29, 2010, a Supreme Court jury was told today.
The jury was also presented with an arsenal of weapons collected by police and residents from the scene of the shooting and from the cars used by those involved.
There were two groups of men who attracted the attention of residents that night, including Graeme Ross of Mount Hall Road who said he heard eight to 10 men ‘‘swearing and carrying on’’ outside his house about 7.30pm.
Mr Ross was one of several witnesses who gave evidence in the murder trial of Chad Ross Shedden, 34, who has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Mr Maynard, but not guilty to murder.
Mr Shedden admits to shooting Mr Maynard in the chest shortly before midnight that night, but says he acted in self-defence.
The trial continues.
