Lifejacket saves Frazer Park fisherman

A man who was swept off the rocks at Frazer Beach, Frazer Park has been saved thanks to his lifejacket.

About 7.40am yesterday a 39-year-old man was rock fishing at the southern end of Frazer Beach with three friends.

Tuggerah Lakes Local Area Command police and other emergency services were called to the beach when the man was washed off the rocks and swept approximately 250 metres out to sea.

A local man used his board to paddle out to the man, who was still afloat due to his lifejacket.

Westpac Helicopter arrived and a rescue took place. The man was transported to Frazer Park, where he was transferred to an ambulance and taken to Wyong Hospital.

He was in the water for over an hour.

The man was suffering from hypothermia was otherwise not injured.
