Former Newcastle Uni Vice-Chancellor dies

FORMER University of Newcastle Vice-Chancellor Professor Keith Morgan has died, aged 83.

Mr Morgan, who was the Vice-Chancellor of the university from 1987 - 1993, died peacefully in his sleep on May 6 following a long battle with cancer.

Born and educated in the United Kingdom, Mr Morgan moved to Newcastle with his wife in 1987 to take a job at the university.

During his tenure he presided over a time of great expansion.

His funeral will be held in his home town of Lancaster on May 18.
