F18 hornet makes emergency landing at Williamtown

EMERGENCY services raced to the Williamtown Airport this afternoon after reports an F18 hornet was going to attempt an emergency landing.

Port Stephens police, Fire and Rescue NSW, and SES officers were called to the scene about 3pm after the pilot radioed the ground to report smoke and flames in the cockpit.

Police said the pilot was dumping fuel and would be attempting an emergency landing.

The aircraft landed without incident about 3.20pm.
