A WOMAN has twice fought off an attacker who barged his way into her Telarah home this morning.
Police said the victim, 25, heard knocks on her front and back doors about 2am before opening up believing it was her father.
The attacker, whom she did not recognise, stormed into her Capper Street home and started punching her in the face.
He pushed her to the ground and continued the attack before she was able to wrestle free and run outside.
But he came again, grabbing her in the front yard and continuing the attack.
A neighbour, who heard the commotion, raised the alarm before yelling at her neighbour that police had been called.
It is believed the attacker then decided to run off.
He is described as being about 165 centimetres tall, of medium build, olive complexion, with short brown hair and was wearing shorts and an unzipped grey hoodie without a shirt.
Central Hunter police are investigating.
