A WOMAN is in a serious condition following an accident in Muswellbrook tonight.
She is suffering from severe head injuries after being hit by a motor vehicle near the war memorial near Aberdeen Street about 7.30pm.
The woman is being transferred to Muswellbrook District Hospital to get a helicopter service to travel to John Hunter Hospital.
The New England Highway has been closed in both directions and police are redirecting traffic.
