Man locks keys in boot and cops drink driving charge

A MAN has been charged with drink driving after police stopped to help him on a lonely rural road when he accidently locked his keys in the boot of his car.

Police said the Adamstown Heights man, 41, got a flat tyre whilst driving home along Clarence Town Road, from Thunderbolts Rally, early on Sunday morning.

He changed the tyre but locked his keys in the boot.

Police said officers came across the man and stopped after it appeared his car was parked in a dangerous position.

They allegedly smelt alcohol before the man registered a blood alcohol reading of 0.124.

He was charged with mid-range PCA and will face Dungog Local court on July 9.

A family member drove to Dungog to pick him up.
