Car linked to Rutherford sex attack

POLICE have issued information about a man who allegedly tricked a female motorist into pulling over in Rutherford and then knocked her unconscious and sexually assaulted her.

Police and Sex Crimes Squad officers stopped vehicles yesterday in Kyle Street, where the incident occurred on May 22, under the guise of a random breath test.

Drivers were asked if they had seen any people and given a description of the alleged offender’s car, a red, 2007 VE Holden Commodore SS.

Police said the alleged offender was Caucasian, aged in his late 30s or early 40s and had short, light brown hair. He was wearing blue jeans, a black T-shirt, blue shoes with yellow laces and sunglasses.

The woman, 34, said she saw a vehicle with its bonnet raised at 5pm. When she stopped to help she was punched in the head.
