ONE person was killed and four others injured in a crash at Gateshead this morning.
A Mitsubishi Lancer was travelling northbound on the Pacific Highway when the accident happened about 3.30am.
A back-seat passenger, a man aged 22, sustained critical injuries and died at the scene.
The 21-year-old male driver, a 19-year-old woman and two male passengers aged 20 and 22, were taken to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital with various injuries.
Police said fatigue and wet weather may have been a factor in the accident.
Investigations are continuing.
