A MAJOR Port Stephens health centre is a step closer to completion, with a builder appointed to start work during summer.
National Buildplan Group has won the $15million tender to build the Raymond Terrace GP Super Clinic and HealthOne centre.
‘‘The builder is expected to be on site early this month, so it won’t be long before this GP Super Clinic is well under way,’’ Federal Minister for Health Tanya Plibersek said.
‘‘People in Raymond Terrace will have access to great health care where the need it, when they need it.’’
Port Stephens MP Craig Baumann said he expected the new site to attract quality health professionals to the area.
Planned services for the Jacaranda Avenue clinic, which was jointly funded by the state and federal governments, will include community health, oral health, and pathology.
Visiting specialists will also have access to rooms.
Renal dialysis chairs have also been mooted for the clinic, a first for Port Stephens.
