YOGIS will bare their passion for the bendy discipline at Newcastle beach this summer.
East End's Yoga Loft held its first "Loftie beach" class at Newcastle beach on Saturday and will run the weekend work-out this month and next.
Yoga Loft owner and instructor Cveta Jovanoska said the $10, hour-long beach class may also be offered mid-week if demand continues.
Ms Jovanoska said the new outdoor class added fun to yoga, makes the best of Newcastle's natural assets and links to the "ocean breathing" technique, known as Ujjayi, which balances and calms the breath, increases oxygenation and relaxes the nervous system.
"We refer to the Ujay breath as an oceanic breath so having this class amid nature at the beach, where you can also hear the ocean, is perfect," Ms Jovanoska said.
The Yoga Loft has attracted strong attendance since its July launch, with veteran yogis, formally known as yoga participants, and rookies enjoying views across to Nobbys from the business's Hunter Street studio.
With 1000 clients on its books, Ms Jovanoska says it has added about 10 classes to its schedule and three new teachers.
