FROM toddlers to teenagers and the young at heart, fans packed Newcastle Entertainment Centre to see the original Wiggles line-up perform their last Hunter show.
The four original members – along with Dorothy the Dinosaur, Wags the Dog, Henry the Octopus and Captain Feathersword – have been regular visitors to the Hunter during their 21-year career.
The group announced in May that Murray Cook, Greg Page and Jeff Fatt would hand over their red, yellow and purple skivvies to new performers at the end of the year and begin creative roles behind the scenes.
Blue Wiggle Anthony Field will continue on stage.
Murray Cook said there had been lots of goodwill, warmth and a few tears from audiences at their final tour.
‘‘I’m going to miss the audiences. Getting out on stage and getting that immediate reaction and seeing all their faces – that’s been so rewarding,’’ Cook said.
The original line-up will perform together for the last time in Sydney on
‘‘I can’t imagine how I’m going to feel on that last day, I’m really sad about it,’’ Cook said.
‘‘But I’m really proud of what we’ve achieved and hopefully with the new guys it will continue on and this thing we’ve created will go on for a long time.’’
