SINGLE Medowie mum Kate Outtrim loves shopping online because she has little time to spare between work and home.
But when the 35-year-old teacher's aide kept filling her online shopping basket with products, only to discover at the checkout that the retailer did not have a delivery service to Australia, she decided to fill the gap with her own online business.
Her new website or shopping search engine, allstoresdeliver.com.au, lists thousands of websites in Australia, the US and UK that stock a range of products and - most importantly - deliver them.
"I was getting really frustrated because I'd spend chunks of time shopping online and loading up my cart only to find I couldn't get the product sent to me," she said.
"One night my mum said, 'well, why don't you do something about it?' So, I did."
Ms Outtrim said her website was similar to US giant thefind.com, which received up to 12 million hits a month, but was unique in Australia. Her website draws revenue from the small commission it receives every time a consumer buys products from listed retailers.
Ms Outtrim said she used sites such as entrepreneur.com as a reference tool.
"I live on a farm and I'm not computer-minded; I've learnt a hell of a lot," she laughed.
Early indicators are that she is on to a winner.
"Business is building and I've had overwhelmingly positive feedback from shoppers, who are telling me how convenient it is."
While fashionistas are an obvious market, she has cast the net wide by listing websites selling house and garden, health and beauty, sporting and hi-tech goods.
