Never to be forgotten wedding day

NEW Year’s Eve heralded in a new era for couple Sarah Nahapiet and Allan King.

The pair were among a select few couples to ring in the new year by saying ‘‘I do’’.

Ms Nahapiet said she and fiance Allan King chose New Year’s Eve to get hitched because they got engaged at New Year two years ago in Tahiti.

The pair met seven years ago at the chiropractor and got talking in the waiting room.

Sarah asked staff for Allan’s number but they were not allowed to give it out, but conceded Allan was from Barnsley.

The Elermore Vale girl then asked anyone she knew from Barnsley if they knew an Allan King and eventually she had success.

She got Allan’s number, messaged him and it was three days later when Allan was checking his old phone, before throwing it out, that he saw Sarah’s message.

‘‘He invited me to this 18th birthday party and that was it,’’ she said.

The couple were married at C3 Christian City Church, Merewether, and the reception was at Caves Beachside Resort where guests viewed the 9pm fireworks.

‘‘I had a good year to plan the wedding,’’ Sarah said.

‘‘I actually gave the guests save-the-date cards so they could all come.’’

Sarah said it was a vintage-inspired wedding with touches of Tahiti.

The couple hosted 90 guests, including four bridesmaids who each wore navy blue and light gold.
