WHILE relatively new, The Locale is already drawing a solid crowd through its doors. On the site of the former Heights on Regent (and before that Martine’s) the Locale is headed by Jason Cox, who has 15 years in the food business.
Breakfast: Available all day. Ham and cheese croissant $7.50; bircher muesli with honey, yoghurt and blackberries $11; Locale Breakfast – soft-boiled egg, ham and gruyere on sourdough bread with mustard butter $14; twice-baked French toast with vanilla ice-cream and salted caramel $14.50; scrambled eggs with chorizo, romesco, goat’s cheese and pimentos $18.
Lunch: Mexican meatball sandwich with cheddar, jalapenos and coriander $12; steak sandwich with red pepper mayo, tomato and onion jam $14.50; asparagus risotto with shallot confit, truffle oil and parmesan $16.50; mushroom tart with gruyere and pine nuts $16.50; beetroot and lentil salad with oven-roasted beetroot, baby spinach, haloumi and chives $18; pulled pork salad with crispy noodle and mint $18.50.
Snacks: Banana bread $6; beer battered onion rings with sour cream and sweet chilli $8; bruschetta with tomato, feta and pesto $9; salt and pepper calamari with asian slaw and nam jim $12.50.

Drinks: Juices, smoothies, milkshakes, coffee, and T2 tea. Try the breakfast smoothie with yoghurt, banana, toasted muesli, cinnamon and skim milk for $6.50.
