LAST Saturday I was enjoying a walk along the foreshore of Carrington when I was pleasantly surprised to encounter hundreds of fit and fun-loving runners taking part in what is called Newcastle Park Run.
Apparently this is a regular activity on Saturday mornings starting at 8am.
Participants can run or walk the beautiful course from the rowers sheds around the harbour shore to Carrington Bridge and back.
All ages appear to participate and everyone was courteous and friendly.
Apparently Newcastle Park Run is one of the largest in Australia and this movement is also a worldwide activity.
We should be proud of the Park Run and encourage other such clean, healthy activities which may help to clean up Newcastle’s reputation.
Congratulations to all participants and especially the organisers for a job well done.
