LAKE Macquarie City Council rangers have launched an investigation to find a German shepherd that attacked an elderly woman at Belmont on New Year’s Eve.
The Newcastle Herald reported on Wednesday that Yolanda Davies, 70, was walking home after playing bingo at Belmont 16 Foot Sailing Club when she was mauled on her right calf by a large dog.
Mrs Davies said the dog’s owner, a woman, refused to help. Instead she fled the area.
A council ranger took a statement from Mrs Davies and has launched an investigation to find the owner. Mrs Davies’s son-in-law, Craig Ehsman, told the Herald there had been no developments on Wednesday night.
