Credit cards used in alleged Lake spending spree

A MAN, 21, has been charged with a dozen offences after an alleged two-hour spending spree using stolen credit cards.

The man, who police said was charged with similar offences by Lake Macquarie police on January 10, allegedly used stolen credit cards to buy more than $1400 worth of cigarettes from 10 Lake Macquarie businesses in October.

Police allege the credit cards were taken from a stolen vehicle that was involved in a number of police pursuits.

The man was declared a habitual traffic offender by Newcastle Court almost a year ago, police said, and already is disqualified from driving until 2031.

The man will face charges including driving whilst disqualified in Newcastle Local Court on January 16.
