SOME years ago, on a visit to Adelaide, I had the opportunity of having a trip on the O-Bahn, which was a bendy bus which runs on rails out to the suburbs.
Then when the bus arrived in the city, the rail-type wheels on the bus were lifted and the bus then ran on its tyres as a bus would normally.
If we are to lose the rail into Newcastle city, maybe an option worth consideration could be that some buses could be fitted out to run on the existing rails from Wickham into the city.
By doing this it gets some buses off the roads within the CBD by using existing rail facilities.
It would help in reducing travel time, traffic congestion and parking problems within the Newcastle CBD.
