Jets name midfield recruit for debut

MIDFIELD recruit Zenon Caravella is set to make his debut for the Jets from the bench against Wellington Phoenix at Westpac Stadium on Sunday.

Caravella signed an 18-month deal with the Jets on Wednesday after being released by Adelaide United.

He has trained twice since arriving and is in the 16-man travelling party that will leave for New Zealand this afternoon.

Captain Jobe Wheelhouse returns to the starting side in place of suspended Ruben Zadkovich. Wheelhouse has played the last two games off the bench, following a knee injury, and is not expected to get through 90 minutes.

Taylor Regan (calf) and Ryan Griffiths (heel) completed a full training session this morning and are expected to start in Wellington where the Jets have lost the past eight games.

Jets (4-2-3-1): Mark Birighitti; Scott Neville, Taylor Regan, Connor Chapman, Sam Gallaway; Jobe Wheelhouse (c), Josh Brillante; Ryan Griffiths, James Brown, Craig Goodwin; Emile Heskey. Reserves from James Virgili, Andrew Hoole, Zenon Caravella, Adam Taggart, Ben Kennedy (gk).
