THE Bureau of Meteorology is warning Hunter residents to prepare for heavy rain, damaging surf and possible flash flooding.
Ex-tropical cyclone Oswald is moving slowly from Queensland towards NSW and is expected to bring heavy surf and rain with it.
The Bureau says very heavy surf will develop Sunday and this may lead to localised damage. Beach conditions could be dangerous and people are advised to stay away from the surf and surf-exposed areas.
On Monday, heavy rain is expected to strike the lower Hunter Valley. A flood watch has been issued for major rivers.
Heavy surf conditions are tipped to extend further south during Monday and Tuesday.
