I WAS in Newcastle last week and stayed at my daughter’s place in North Lambton while she was away in Melbourne.
I put her garbage bins out on Wednesday night, the normal night for her particular area.
The yellow recycle bin was emptied on Thursday morning but to my surprise the normal red waste bin had still not been emptied by the time I left on Saturday.
I was advised that the previous week the green bin was emptied on Thursday and the red on Friday.
You actually got an unpleasant odour as you walked past the red bins in the street on Saturday morning due to the oppressive heat of the previous days.
Residents pay rates to have a waste collection service provided and councils are quick to impose a fine if a late payment occurs.
Maybe someone from council can provide a response to the zero collection last week and late collection the previous week.
