HERE are the winners. From the hundreds of entries in the Newcastle Herald’s Summer Photo Competition, our judges have selected their three standouts.
‘Raging Silhouette’ by Brenda Ashley, of Windale, has taken out this year’s top prize. She wins an Olympus PEN Mini digital camera, worth $449, plus 1000 6 x 4 prints. Brenda had two pictures in the final 24, with ‘Angling’ joining ‘Raging Silhouette’ as a favourite of Facebook voters.
‘Pooped’ by Jo Jones, of Stockland, wins the second prize of an Olympus TG-820 10-metre waterproof camera, while ‘Fun In The Hole’ by Mel Gray, of Eleebana, was adjudged the third placegetter, picking up an Olympus TG-320 3-metre waterproof camera.

‘Watering Hole’ by Matthew Ross was highly commended, while ‘Beach Bolt’ (Kerry Cameron) and ‘Flagged’ (Kate Clare) joined Brenda’s shots as the top picks of Facebook voters in their respective galleries.
