VIDEO: Hunter Region on show

A SNAPPY webisode that seeks to shrug off the Hunter’s coal and steel reputation and promote the region as a diverse place to do business will be launched in Newcastle on Wednesday by the NSW Deputy Premier.

Andrew Stoner, who also has the trade and investment and regional infrastructure and services portfolios, will join Regional Development Australia’s Hunter board and 120 business leaders to launch the 2013 Hunter Investment Prospectus.

RDA Hunter chief executive Todd Williams said the ‘‘vibrant’’ webisode was a new approach to promoting the region’s competitive advantages and was designed so another episode or topic could be added to it.

‘‘We have made it purposefully upbeat and vibrant because the purpose of it is to attract business and people to the region, and we also wanted to address some old stereotypes that people from outside the region may still have, for example the region being all about coal and steel-making,’’ he said.
