DOG owners around the Hunter region (and Australia) have become extremely concerned about the welfare of our dogs due to ‘‘dognappings’’ , which are not being taken seriously by the police force despite numerous reports of dog theft.
On Tuesday morning, in broad daylight, my friend’s Staffordshire bull terrier pup was taken from her yard.
It was then realised that further dogs had been taken from the very same street just a few hours earlier.
These are family pets whom we hold very dear and many people are scared to leave their dogs alone outside.
These people need to be stopped. The authorities need to help us citizens, not pass all the reports off as ‘‘runaways’’.
