In the finest O-Week tradition, thousands of new students roam the Callaghan campus getting acquainted with university life.
Sporting a badly sprained ankle from the weekend, Triple-J presenter Tom Ballard was on hand today to preside over a circus and karaoke show.
‘‘It [the ankle] swelled up quite a bit. Yesterday at Macquarie uni I was in a wheelchair,’’ Ballard, who spent six weeks studying law at Monash University a few years ago, said.
‘‘I’ve been up to Newcastle a bunch of times in the past but this is the first time I’ve been to the uni.’’
As always, the university’s sporting and social clubs proved popular with new students looking to build their social networks.
And for those who can’t wait for the lectures to start, there are also academic seminars and other events to help students ease their way into university life.
O-Week finishes on Friday with the traditional O-Week party.
