TWO children were given the chance to ride a bike for the first time today thanks to money raised through the Gold Coast to Newcastle Live for Kids Cycle Classic.
Ella and Charlie were able to experience the thrill that most Australian children get when receiving their first bikes at the Coal Services office at Speers Point.
The custom-designed Freedom Wheels bikes cater specifically to both their disabilities.
About 40 bikes have been donated over the last two years through the Live for Kids Cycle Classic.
Over the last five years, most of the money raised has gone towards the purchase of medical equipment for the John Hunter Children’s Hospital.
The Live for Kids charity was founded by Simon and Gwendalyn Burt in memory of their daughter Olivia. Live for Kids raises funds to support children’s health in the Hunter Region.
