THE department store rivalry between Myer and David Jones is on again.
Myer opened its autumn-winter 2013 collection launch last night with former David Jones model Alexandra Agoston strutting the catwalk alongside Myer's regular Jennifer Hawkins.
Agoston opened the show - a position generally reserved for the top model talent.
Nicole Naccarella, Myer's general manager of womenswear said she was thrilled Agoston was on board.
"I think she adds a level of elegance to the catwalk, she is a beautiful girl; and she and Jen [Hawkins] complement each other."
Agoston opened the show in a white Toni Maticevski gown with sequined embellishments.
Trends on the runway included winter florals, peplum features and leather styles.
Ms Naccarella says leather is a key trend this season "in everything from skinny pants, dresses, skirts and jackets".
"It is very popular with our customers, it's so versatile as it can be dressed up or down and it's great for the Australian climate," she said.
Last night's appearance of Agoston for Myer follows a series of tit-for-tat raids between the two leading fashion department stores.
