LETTER: Tired of Sydney’s ‘spare’ crumbs

OUR huge regional contributions to the state coffers should be front page news daily, listing side by side what we get and what Sydney gets – for everything: the art gallery, hospital staffing, roads, public pools, all of it.

We must stop fighting among ourselves for the pennies the state says it can’t afford  to  give  us – that’s our money, after all –  and find some politicians with a bit of backbone to demand we get our fair share of revenue from the state.

Come on, Novocastrians, let’s be more politically savvy and stop fighting each other. The real battle is in Sydney where the politicians are delighted to see us – if not actually laughing at us –  bickering over the crumbs Sydney can ‘‘spare’’.

Meanwhile, our gallery expansion is on hold, our hospitals are understaffed and our communities are coated in coal dust.
