Man caught drink driving and holding snake

A MAN has allegedly been caught driving while nearly four times over the legal alcohol limit while holding a small python.

Police said the man, 28, was pulled over in Cessnock on Saturday after officers alleged he was not wearing a seatbelt.

They walked up to find him holding a small python in his right hand and was breath tested, allegedly recording a blood alcohol reading of 0.195.

Police also allege his licence was cancelled.

He will appear in Cessnock Local Court on August 14.
