CONNOISSEURS of fine racing bloodstock headed to the Upper Hunter over the weekend to admire some of the world’s finest racehorses.
The annual stallion parades, held prior to the start of the breeding season, are a chance for breeders and punters alike to inspect some of Australia’s finest horse studs.
International superstar Black Caviar is among those who will be calling the Upper Hunter home this breeding season.
The Hunter Valley is home to Australia’s multi-billion dollar thoroughbred breeding industry and is one of three centres of thoroughbred breeding excellence in the world.
The region’s thoroughbred breeding industry, which spans over two centuries, is the largest producer, supplier and exporter of Australian thoroughbreds.
Arrowfield Stud, Coolmore Australia, Cressfield, Crowning Stone, Darley, Eire Bloodstock, Emirates Park, Riversdale, Scone Equine Hospital, Vinery Stud, Widden Stud, Yarraman Park were among this year’s participating studs.
