SO, the two boys have had a photo taken while holding guns (‘‘Anti-social shots put gun swimmers in hot water’’ Herald 8/6). Big deal.
Who is hurt by this benign larrikinism? Nobody at all, I would suggest. I’m unaware of anybody ever being injured by a photograph.
Guns aren’t evil, only the people who misuse them are.
Both young men have made mistakes in the past but the reaction of the Olympic team management in punishing them over a little hijinks is deplorable, especially given that we’re sending a shooting team to the Olympics.
These two boys have exhibited more spine to actually make the team than have the team management and all those politically correct types who condemn them.
If they win medals, will we exclude them from the overall tally? I think not. Shame!
