Arrows fired at Bolton Point home

Police allegedly seized a high-powered bow when taking a man into custody after two arrows were shot into a Bolton Point home last night.

Members of a family inside narrowly escaped injury.

Lake Macquarie police are investigating the random shooting after a couple reported the two arrows thumping into the back of their Molokan Place home as their four children were inside.

Police said the father had placed clothes into a dryer on a back verandah only two minutes before one arrow was shot into the door of the dryer about 9.30pm.

About 30 minutes later, his wife was checking on the clothes when she heard a ‘‘woosh’’ and a thud and saw another arrow hit a fridge less than four metres away.

‘‘It was just a matter of luck that no one was injured,’’ Senior Constable Tony Tamplin said.

Police arrived and later found two further arrows shot into trees in bushland adjacent to the property.

The man who was arrested is currently assisting police with their inquiries at Toronto Police Station.
