Do you scream at your kids?

IT’S a 28-day challenge that most would-be mums and dads would not understand.

But for Tammy Crane, of Toronto, the 28-day scream-free challenge makes perfect sense, and she is looking forward to a bit of guidance along the way.

Somewhere in the middle of caring for her 10-month-old and three-year-old daughters, Ms Crane has found herself losing her temper, and occasionally, yelling.

‘‘When I ask my three-year-old to do something numerous times and she doesn’t and then I get frustrated and that’s when I tend to scream a little,’’ Miss Crane said.

‘‘I guess it’s more towards the afternoon and if she doesn’t have a sleep and she gets more cranky, and it’s usually around when you are trying to get dinner ready.’’

The scream-free challenge is being put to Australian parents to encourage them to stop yelling at their children. It will be launched on Monday by Essential Kids, a website for parents, and the Self Help for Mums organisation.
