LAKE Macquarie rugby club have recorded a coup with the signing of former Waikato Chiefs lock Mark Burman.
Burman arrives from Italy on Friday and will make his debut for the Roos against Nelson Bay at Strong Oval the next day
The 27-year-old 197cm, 112 kilogram second-rower has just completed his third season at Mogliano in the Italian Super 10 competition.
He played four seasons for Waikato, but his only Super rugby appearance for the Chiefs was in 2009.
The Roos did not win a game in the Newcastle and Hunter Rugby Union last season.
But after a slow start to this campaign, they have recorded back to back wins over perennial powerhouse clubs Merewether (21-13) and Wanderers (22-19) to climb to sixth place on 21 points.
