A WOMAN has been taken to hospital after a car hit her at Mayfield.
Constable Gerald Frogley, of Newcastle Crash Investigation Unit, said it appeared the woman was attempting to cross Maitland Road just after 8pm.
The location, near Church Street, is a section of road with four lanes and no pedestrian crossing.
The woman collided with a car.
She suffered pelvic injuries and a grazed hand.
The male driver, aged in his 30s, was to undergo mandatory blood and urine tests.
