Man arrested after Tighes Hill shooting

A MAN has been arrested following the shooting of a Tighes Hill man during an alleged home invasion yesterday.

Police were called to a Ferndale Street home about 5.20pm after a number of people allegedly stormed the residence and bashed two young men.

It is alleged that during the altercation, one of the victims, 24, was shot in the chest.

The injuries are not considered life threatening and he is listed as being in a stable condition.

His flatmate, 25, sustained minor head injuries.

Their attackers allegedly stole a motorcycle and fled.

One man has been arrested and is currently assisting Newcastle City detectives with their enquiries.

Investigations are continuing.
