I WAS in Laman Street to discuss my view that Newcastle City council officers really are incapable of rehabilitating Laman Street without the resources the community has to offer and I noticed that two parking spaces were taken up by council compliance vans.
Neither of them had paid for their parking – or I presume this was the case, as they had no valid tickets on their dashboards. One had a ticket dated June 27.
A friend was unable to park in the street as there were no spaces. Did these workers not read the article a few months ago (‘‘Parking’s fine for them but fines for you’’ Herald 10/5) indicating that council is ‘‘mindful that officers need to set an example’’.
