Stretching in league of its own

THE shoes were off and hands were placed calmly together as Newcastle Knights identities Paul Harragon, Danny Buderus and Kurt Gidley attempted their poses at Yoga Loft Newcastle yesterday.

The men have signed on as ambassadors for the new studio that overlooks Newcastle harbour and opens to the public on Saturday.

The business has aimed to capture the Newcastle celebrity market by offering an upmarket studio with a day spa and programs geared to fit in with an elite athlete's chosen sport as well as any injuries.

Just under $500,000 has been spent fitting out level five of the building at 50 Hunter Street, Newcastle.

Buderus and Gidley, whose wives are both pregnant, are hoping to use yoga more as part of their Knights training.

Buderus is particularly keen on the meditation and stretching while injured captain Gidley has been supporting his wife Brooke who is doing pregnancy pilates.

Other ambassadors include Newcastle Jets captain Jobe Wheelhouse, Olympic sailor Nathan Outteridge and surfers Paul Parkes and Philippa Anderson.

Harragon is a fan of hot yoga.

Owner and director Cveta Jovanoska will hold an open day on Saturday.
