Youth on alleged drunken rampage at Lake Macquarie Tavern

A TEENAGER will face court today after a drunken rampage in a Lake Macquarie pub overnight.

Police said the Windale youth, 17, was under the influence of alcohol when he approached two men talking outside the Lake Macquarie Tavern at Mount Hutton about 9pm.

Police will allege he threatened to stab both men unless they handed over their keys and wallets and that he then assaulted the pair.

The men fled into the tavern while their attacker allegedly continued to yell threats before smashing glass panels on the front entry doors.

Police will also allege the youth kicked a number of parked cars before gaining access to the tavern.

Once inside it is alleged he threatened staff and patrons and threw bar stools before smashing glass on another door and leaving.

Police arrested the 17-year-old a short distance from the hotel. They took him to Belmont station and charged him with nine offences.

He has been refused bail to appear at Broadmeadow Children’s Court today.
