Biker in hospital after coalfields shooting

CENTRAL Hunter police are investigating a shooting after a man presented at Cessnock Hospital this afternoon with gunshot wounds.

Police said the 56-year-old, who is believed to be associated with an outlaw motorcycle gang, is currently undergoing treatment for his injuries.

He is believed to be in a serious but stable condition.

Central Hunter police attended the hospital and conducted inquiries.

A crime scene has been established on Wine Country Drive in North Rothbury and is being examined by specialist forensic officers.

Maitland detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
