Mobile speed camera operator assaulted

POLICE are asking for public assistance after a man was assaulted while working on the side of the Pacific Highway at Tea Gardens.

A 54-year-old man was parked on the side of the highway, about 8.30pm on Tuesday, to do mobile speed camera duties.

The New Lambton man left his car to place metal warning signs on the road.

A man approached and spoke to him briefly and then punched him to the face.

Another male came from behind punching him to the rear of his head.

The two men left the area and the man contacted police.

The only description the man could provide police was that the offender had a thin build.

He suffered lacerations and swelling to his face and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
