Merewether swimmer earns Olympic silver

Merewether swimmer Angie Bainbridge has earned Newcastle 's first medal of the London Olympics after Australia finished second in the 4x200 metre women's freestyle relay on Wednesday.

Bainbridge swam in the heats but not the final, which was won by the United States.

She will still receive a silver medal, just as she collected a gold in Beijing four years as a heat swimmer in the corresponding event.

Her medal will be presented in a private ceremony later  this week.
