THE appeal hearing of jailed prison officer Terry Dolling has been adjourned to Sydney to avoid any potential conflict of interest.
Dolling was previously convicted and jailed for repeatedly punching a prisoner in the Newcastle Courthouse cells after the prisoner spat in Dolling's face.
Dolling was granted bail pending his appeal against the severity of his sentence.
He was supported by a large contingent of colleagues in Newcastle District Court today.
The case will be heard in Sydney in two weeks.
