A POST-mortem will be carried out this morning after a Maitland death police regard as potentially suspicious.
Police were called to Ken Tubman Drive early yesterday after a neighbour grew concerned her neighbour had been absent for a period of time.
Investigating further, the neighbour saw the 39-year-old woman slumped on her couch through a window and contacted police.
Police attended and forced entry to the woman’s property, finding her deceased and establishing a crime scene.
Officers will remain on the scene today until a cause of death is determined.
It is believed the woman died 24 to 48 hours before her body was discovered.
Police said the death was being treated as suspicious due to concerns over bruising around the woman’s eyes flagged by a doctor and a forensic pathologist at the scene.
