Police seek help after girl threatened in Jewells

POLICE are seeking help after a man threatened to stab a 13-year-old girl in Jewells.

Police said the man approached the girl about 3pm on Monday after she got off a bus at the corner of the Pacific Highway and Ntaba Road.

The man jumped out of the bushes and grabbed her by the shoulder, asking where she lived and threatening to stab her.

The girl broke free before running across the road and hiding in bushes.

A short time later she walked home, where a relative took her to report the incident to police.

Police are seeking a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

The man was last seen wearing blue jeans with holes in them, a light-coloured shirt and cream-coloured hiking boots.

He was also described as having a deep voice.

Police also believe a white van with black plastic taped over some windows was parked across the road during the incident.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crimestoppers on 1800 333 or through www1.police.nsw.gov.au.
