LETTER: I didn’t vote for Macka, or did I?

I READ with some disappointment  the article about the ‘‘preference deals’’ reached between some candidates of Port Stephens in our council elections (‘‘Bruce almighty’’ Herald 1/3).

Surely  Bruce MacKenzie is deluding himself if he thinks he was popularly elected.

I for one did not vote for him, though it seems via ‘‘deals’’ I did. I believe the councillors that sold their souls to the great ‘‘Macka Empire’’ should be embarrassed and hang their heads in shame for what they have done.

Here’s an idea: next election, don’t vote. Surely a fine is better than this circus.  And all financed by our rates.

 Jenny Riley,
