MISSY Higgins will play at the Civic Theatre on October 3 as part of her last run of shows for at least the next 12 months.
The tour announcement follows two other big revelations for the ARIA Award-winning singer: that she is pregnant with her first child due in January and she’ll release her new album and book OZ on September 19.
Higgins will perform at Newcastle’s Civic Theatre on October 3 in a concert which will have the singer combine covers of Australian songs from the forthcoming album with her own songs such as The Special Two, Scar, Steer and more.
Higgins said compiling OZ – which includes covers of songs by The Drones, Something for Kate, Icehouse, Divinyls, The Angels and more – was a different kind of challenge.
“I wanted to avoid all the obvious [songs] though because ‘Great Aussie Songbook’ collections have kinda been done to death.’’ Tickets are on sale from Wednesday.
